Comic books are so called because some of the earliest comic books were simply collections of comic strips (most of which were humorous) that had originally been printed in newspapers. Comic Books are a form of narrative fiction and so they have a plot, characters, setting, dialogue, and symbolism. They are a super way to encourage a reluctant reader. Comics are Cool. Don't be ashamed of your love for comics. Superhero comics are most popular in the United States. Superhero comic books are similar to modern day mythology, with fanciful settings and characters with superhuman powers and abilities.

Comics are so unique, what is it about them that makes them differ from all other storytelling media. Comics aren't just words and pictures, they are a blend of the two, a language all its own. Comics, especially when paired with cartoons, catch our eyes and speak to us in the simplified, symbolic language of our dreams and innermost perceptions. I love today's comic, and although I spend entirely too much time reading them online, paper comics will always hold a special place in my heart.

Comic books can be found on all subjects and they can appeal to so many ages and demographics, I don't think they'll ever go away. Comic books can be very somber, dark or adventurous magazines yet they can speak about the hopes people have for themselves.

 Comic book stores carry a far broader range of comics, and also have back issues, graphic novels, collectors supplies, and more. Comic book stores thrive on selling habitual entertainment; their lifeblood has been the comic book junkie, who has to make weekly trips to the local store to follow the exploits of his favorite characters.
